The Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine Stepan Kubiv and the Director of the Eastern Partnership Department of the European Commission Laurence Meredith signed agreements on financing cross-border cooperation programs for 2014-2020. With a total budget of 365 million euros.
We are talking about four programs “Ukraine-Romania”, “Ukraine-Hungary-Slovakia-Romania”, “Ukraine-Poland-Belarus”, “Black Sea Basin”.
The European Union will finance the projects of the participating countries in the following areas: improving the infrastructure of the border regions; Solving security and law enforcement problems; Protection of the environment from climate and natural disasters, use of renewable energy sources; Support of entrepreneurship and development of small and medium-sized enterprises.
Earlier, the head of the State Fiscal Service Roman Nasirov reported that projects between Ukraine and the EU countries will be aimed at joint management of borders and the country’s fulfillment of obligations in the customs sphere. “Joint control has already been carried out with Poland (4 checkpoints) and Moldova (4 checkpoints), and we are also in the process of negotiating with Romania, Slovakia and Hungary, and we hope that in the near future the number of joint border checkpoints will be increased despite some difficulties “, – then reported in the GFS.
Joint patrolling of state borders, exchange of information, cooperation of operational bodies, expansion of networks and functions of contact points, as well as joint service in maritime and river areas should be organized.
In addition, Ukraine signed an agreement with the European Commission on the financing of public service reform in the amount of 104 million euros for the period from 2016 to 2020.
