The rating “TOP500 largest companies in Central and Eastern Europe” included 32 companies from Ukraine.
As noted, this is a significant decrease compared to the previous year, when 53 companies were rated from Ukraine.
These results were primarily due to the devaluation of the hryvnia, a reduction in domestic demand, the loss of part of the assets of companies and problems with financing.
In addition, despite the large-scale challenges, Ukrainian companies included in the ranking, managed to increase its revenue in local currency at the end of 2014 by an average of 16.6%.
Devaluation of the national currency significantly corrected the performance of companies in the ranking – in terms of corporate earnings in euros decreased by an average of 21.2%. Inflation has a negative effect on the domestic market, reducing the purchasing power of the population and demand for some products.
