Ukraine Expands Currency Liberalisation to Support Business and Investors

Posted in News.

Ukraine has introduced one of its most significant currency-liberalisation measures since the beginning of the full-scale war, creating additional flexibility for businesses, individuals and investors operating through the Ukrainian financial system.

On 10 August, the National Bank of Ukraine increased the monthly limit for purchasing non-cash foreign currency, bank metals and foreign securities from UAH 50,000 to UAH 200,000. Certain withdrawal and card transaction limits were also increased.

The reform is designed to support economic activity while maintaining financial stability. For international businesses, greater flexibility in currency transactions can make Ukrainian operations and investment planning more convenient.

The changes are particularly relevant for foreign companies establishing Ukrainian subsidiaries, investing in local businesses or planning cross-border financial operations.

Investment Perspective: Continued currency liberalisation may strengthen Ukraine’s attractiveness as the country moves toward deeper integration with European financial and economic markets.
