The company ED&F Man Ukraine plans to invest another $ 10 million in a sugar refinery in the Nikolaev region and expand its land bank to 45-50 thousand ha. Previous investments in the company has made about $ 30 million.
The company ED&F Man Ukraine, a subsidiary of ED&F Man Holdings (UK), plans to invest another $ 10 million in equipment sugar factory acquired in 2007 in the Nikolaev region and expand its land bank under cultivation of sugar beet for its raw materials from the current 10 thousand ha to 45-50 thousand ha.
“Sugar factory was build from scratch, bought and remodeled, has invested about $ 30 million more are planning to invest 10 million dollars colo -. Especially in the improvement of equipment,” – in company said.
Production capacity now allow to process up to 600 thousand tonnes sugar beet in the season and produce up to 60 thousand tons of sugar.
In the season 2015/2016 sugar production sugar refinery ED&F Man Ukraine has made 10 thousand tons of sugar, the entire volume was sold on the domestic market; next season the company plans to produce not less than 30 thousand tonnes of sugar.
In addition, the company plans to expand its land bank in Ukraine under cultivation of sugar beet to increase the share of own raw material processing plant.
Now processing included in ED&F Man Ukraine Company “Agro-Delo” is 10 thousand hectares, up to the end of the year it is planned to expand Zembank another 5 thousand hectares, and in the future – to 45-50 thousand hectares..
So many companies need to grow taking into account sugar beet to provide its own raw materials factory.
In Ukraine, ED & F Man is represented by two companies – “Ukrainian Sugar Company”, bought in 2007, 75% of the shares “Zaselskogo sugar factory” in the Nikolaev region and specializes in the production of sugar from sugar beet and raw sugar, as well as the agricultural company “Agro-Delo “.
In January 2012, the company Continental Farmers Group reached an agreement with ED&F Man Holdings to form a joint venture for the production of sugar beet in Ukraine, and in May the company received permission ACU on the implementation of this transaction.
At the end of 2012, the EBRD has invested 15.9 million dollars in the sugar refinery.
