“G7” promised to support Ukrainian energy sector.
Energy ministers of the leading industrialized countries (G7) expressed the need to help Ukraine and other European countries to reduce dependence on Russian gas. The decision adopted on Tuesday, May 12 the joint communique published on the website of the Ministry of Economy and Energy of Germany following a meeting in Hamburg.
In particular, it says that the country G7 “deeply concerned about the long-term instability in Ukraine, which is a significant threat to energy security in the region.”
As a measure to reduce the needs of European countries for Russian gas US Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz proposed in the medium term to deliver tankers to Europe American liquefied gas. The G7 stressed the importance of this type of fuel for energy within the EU.
