Germany will allocate to Ukraine nearly 140 million euros of loans and grants in 2016.
Germany in 2016 will provide Ukraine 136 million euros of loans and grants to implement more than 20 projects in various spheres. The relevant documents were signed by Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine Aivaras Abromavicius and Director of the Department of the Federal Ministry for Economic and Social Development of the German Andreas Gies.
“Directions of use – from relatively large projects such as the construction of housing for migrants – to very concrete specific programs, such as the repair of schools,” – he told reporters after the signing ceremony, Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade Maxim Nefedov.
He clarified that the mentioned amount of loan funds amount to 88 million euros, and technical assistance – 48 million euros.
M. Nefedov said the money will be spent on existing programs, as well as new ones.
He said that the loan funds will be used for projects in the sphere of development of democracy, support for economic growth and energy independence, as well as in the social sphere. Part of the funds will be intended for operational needs, particularly for disaster relief.
