Inflation in Ukraine slowed to 0.9% in April
Since the beginning of the year, consumer price growth was 4.9%, according to the State Statistics Service.
Inflation in Ukraine in April fell to 0.9% compared to 1.8% in March, 1% in February and 1.1% in January, according to the State Statistics Service of Ukraine.
From the beginning of 2017, inflation was 4.9%.
According to the State Statistics Service, in April prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages increased by 1.2%. In particular, vegetables, fruits, meat and meat products, lard, sugar, bread, rice went up by 7.6-1%. At the same time, eggs fell substantially (by 18.3%), by 2% and 0.6% – buckwheat groats and milk.
Prices for alcoholic beverages and tobacco products increased by 1.3%, including for tobacco products – by 2.4%, alcoholic beverages – by 0.7%.
The growth of tariffs for housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels by 0.5% was mainly due to an increase in tariffs for the maintenance of houses and adjacent areas by 5%, water supply by 3%, sewerage by 2.6%.
The increase in prices for transport in general by 1.4% was caused mainly by a rise in price of travel in road transport by 2.7%, as well as fuel and oils by 1.2%.
In the sphere of communications, prices rose by 2.7%, which is due to a rise in the cost of postal services by 42.4% and mobile communications by 4.1%.
Recall, the Ukrainian government expects inflation to slow in 2017 to 8.1%. NBU, initially also forecasting it at 8%, in January, worsened its forecast to 9.1%.
