The European Parliament approved a package of aid to Ukraine by 1.8 billion euro.
Committee on Foreign Trade European Parliament approved draft report Gabrieliusa Landsbergis (People’s Party group, Lithuania) to provide macro-financial assistance to Ukraine in the amount 1,8 billion euro.
«Today’s decision proves the existence of a strong consensus among the political forces in the European Parliament for approval this unprecedented large package without further delay, » – said Landsbergis.
The new aid program proposed by the European Commission on January 8 will be the third program for Ukraine.
Macro-financial assistance will be provided in three tranches: the first two will be paid in the second half of 2015, the third – in early 2016.
In the first two programs Kiev has already received 1.36 billion euro from 1.61. The remaining EUR 250 million will be paid in the near future.
