Ukraine and Kuwait have great prospects for cooperation in the energy sector.
Today the meeting of Minister of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine, Igor Nasalyk Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Kuwait Mr. Rashid Al-Advani.
The meeting was held to discuss the revitalization of the Commission and of its next meeting.
Igor Nasalyk outlined directions of reforms in Ukraine’s energy sector and the new opportunities that the introduction of gas and electricity markets. Also drew attention to the importance of Ukraine to build its own gas production.
The Minister informed about investment opportunities in the energy sector. In particular, this concerns the completion of the Khmelnitsky NPP power units, modernization of generating companies, transmission power lines. Also, according to I. Nasalyk, Ukraine has a developed infrastructure for transporting oil, including to Europe. The Minister also noted the possibility of the two countries on trade in oil products . “Relations between Ukraine and Kuwait have great potential for development”, – summed I.Nasalyk.
During the meeting the possibilities of raising funds the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development to invest in energy sector in Ukraine, as well as promising areas of cooperation in oil refining and transportation of oil.
Following the meeting, the parties stressed that one of the main directions and instruments urgent improvement and rapid expansion of bilateral cooperation between Ukraine and Kuwait should be powerful, daily and systematic work of the Intergovernmental Ukrainian-Kuwaiti Commission on economic, technical and trade cooperation.
