Ukraine and the United States of America signed an agreement on the provision of loan guarantees which will allow the Ukrainian government in the near future to raise $ 1 billion through the issuance of eurobonds for US guarantee.
Agreement was signed by Minister of Finance Natalia Yaresko, US Ambassador to Ukraine Geoffrey Pyatt and USAID Mission Director Jed Barton.
Dzh.Payett noted that this transaction was made possible by the fact that the first such guarantee for $ 1 billion granted a year ago have been used successfully. He stressed that the allocated funds are aimed at meeting short-term targets for costs and protection of the population, as well as help in the resumption of economic stability and carrying out the necessary economic reforms in the framework of the program agreed with the IMF.
The ambassador noted that the US government in conjunction with the Congress will continue to work on the allocation of additional Ukraine up to $ 1 billion loan guarantee at the end of 2015 in the case of the implementation of the reform program.
Earlier it was reported that the US loan guarantees to Ukraine the second tranche of Eurobonds worth up to $ 1 billion came into force April 24, 2015 and provide 100% payment by the borrower of the loan principal and interest accrued thereon.
These Eurobonds repaid April 30, 2019. The issue was investment banks JP Morgan and Morgan Stanley.
