The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine ratified the accession to the Agreement on Government Procurement of the World Trade Organization.
For the corresponding bill of ratification №0085 voted 243 deputies at the minimum required 226.
The purpose of the adoption of this law is to Ukraine’s accession to the WTO agreement and the introduction of provisions of the agreement in the territory of Ukraine within the framework of the public procurement reform.
WTO Committee on procurement has approved the accession of Ukraine to the agreement November 11, 2015.
The WTO Agreement is one of the most powerful international agreements in the field of public procurement.
The participants of the WTO agreements are 44 countries, including 28 EU countries and the United States, Japan, Canada, Hong Kong, China, Singapore, Korea.
The main advantages of accession to the WTO Agreement is to open and access for Ukrainian companies to new international markets with an annual volume of purchases of $ 1.7 trillion; the creation of the country’s image which implements the public procurement best international standards.
