In January-June 2016 Ukraine exported 178 thousand tons of dairy products, which is 9% less compared to the same period a year earlier.
According to the report, dairy products mainly exported to countries of the former Soviet Union (Kazakhstan, Georgia, Turkmenistan, etc.), Morocco. The main commodity items Ukrainian dairy exports are butter, import – cheeses.
In this reporting period Ukraine imported 51 thousand tons of dairy products, which is 59% more compared to January-June 2015. It is noted that despite the significant increase in imports of dairy products, its share in the domestic consumption does not exceed 2%.
According to the calculations of the balance sheet, for the six months of this year compared with the corresponding period of 2015, the consumption of milk has increased by 1% and amounted to 98 kg per person.
It also reported that in just the first half of 2016 all categories of farms in Ukraine produced 5.107 million tons of milk, which is 1.3% less than in the corresponding period last year.
Experts predict that in 2016 Ukraine will produce 10.49 million tonnes of milk. Exports of dairy products will be 300 thousand tons, and the import – 100 thousand tons.
