The grain harvest in Ukraine will exceed last year’s figures.
Information Company “ProAgro” increased the forecast cereal harvest in Ukraine in 2016 at 2.5 million tonnes, compared with its previous, the June estimate – to 61.1 million tonnes, up 1 million tonnes or 1.6% of the gross grain harvest last year.
Increased production forecast has touched almost all crops except rye, and taken, mainly by raising the expected average yield of grain due to favorable weather conditions, vegetation and the current performance of more than 1.1 t /ha – up to 42.5 t/ha . Thus, the yield of wheat expected to contact at the level of 38.5 c/ha. (First – 38 kg/ha), which together with an increase in the forecast of the harvest area to 6.1 million hectares would gather 24.4 million tonnes of grain, but it is nearly 2 million tonnes more than previously forecast up to 8 million tonnes against the previous 7.8 million tonnes and will increase total yield of barley. At the same time, the production of wheat, barley and most of the other crops are expected this year is less than last year.
Exceeding last year’s figure as a whole will allow corn. However, the forecast of production in 2016/17 MG is forsaken unchanged – 26.4 million tonnes, but that is by 13% more than collected the previous year (23.3 million tonnes). In addition to corn, expect almost a doubling of the collection in the new season of peas – 740 thousand tonnes (in 2015/16 MG – 380 thousand tonnes) and an increase of 25% collection of buckwheat – 160 thousand tonnes against 128 thousand tonnes last year.
Note that the culture, the increase in production which we expect to become the most profitable cultivation in 2015. Thus, according to the State Statistics Service, last year the profitability of corn amounted to 50.3%, peas – 55.3%, and buckwheat – all 100%, with the average profitability of grain production is only slightly higher than 43%.
