The European Investment Bank (EIB) plans in 2016 to increase support for large corporate business in Ukraine, said a senior corporate banker EIB Jean-Jacques Sulakru.
“This year, we focused more on the support of private business, and not only SMEs (small and medium business), but also large corporate sector. The conditions in the country are more favorable to funding. If 40% of our portfolio is in SMEs (through loans to local banks), then in the large corporate capital sector we finance only 11% – still very little we want to increase that share our goal -.. to support leading companies with good management and the potential for development “, -. he said, speaking at an international conference “Ukraine in focus: Strategic meeting of global export credit agencies and multilateral financial institutions.”
In this banker said that such companies need not only short-term funding, but “long money”.
“Companies need to be long-term financing -.. He also expressed willingness to work on the guarantee mechanism that will reduce the cost of borrowing.
As explained Sulakru funding in 2016 as part of the total portfolio, 2014-2016. It is about 800 million euros.
