Ukraine in January-July 2015 exported to the European Union of agricultural products by about $ 2 billion.
The most active farmers exported to the EU cereals. This was stated by Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Alex Pavlenko. According to him, the largest share in the structure of European exports took cereals (corn, wheat, sorghum), oil (sunflower, soybean, canola), oilseeds (soybean, canola, sunflower, fruit, nuts).
“The EU market is attractive for us geographically, its population has a high purchasing power, and the production process of European products more expensive Ukrainian, which makes our products more competitive,” – said Pavlenko.
Recall, according to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, Ukrainian exports of agricultural products to the CIS countries in 2014 decreased by 31.1% – to $ 2.5 billion. At the same time, exports to Asia increased by 9.9% – up $ 6.6 billion, the European Union – by 6.4%, to $ 4.8 billion, Africa – 0.5%, to $ 2.5 billion.
Total exports of agricultural products for 2014 amounted to $ 17 billion, compared with $ 17.3 billion in 2013. The positive balance of foreign trade amounted to $ 10.6 billion (2013 – $ 8.8 billion).
