Ukraine joined the three leading countries in the export of cast iron.
According to the World Steel Association, Ukraine annually sells 1.2 to 2.3 million tons of the metal. In 2014 our country exported 2.2 million tons, Brazil – 2.6 million tons, Russia – 4.4 million tons.
At the same time in 2005 the iron market leaders were Brazil with exports of 7.1 million tons, Russia – with exports of 4.9 million tons, and China, with exports of 2.2 million tons. These three countries cover 82% of the market. Ukraine has sold only 879,000 tons.
By the way, the largest consumers of imported iron are the US (23% of global imports in 2014), Italy (8%) and Turkey (4%).
China in the past decade dramatically reduced the volume of exports of cast iron – from 2.2 million tons in 2005 to 242 thousand tons in 2014. China dropped from the rankings because began to produce the final product from its iron and earn more. Ukraine also sells raw materials.
